Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Tutor (Level 2) to join our team at The Learning Center. As a Tutor (Level 2), you will play a critical role in supporting students in their academic journey, providing guidance, encouragement, and positive feedback to help them achieve their goals. Key Responsibilities

• Tutor students in a course of which you have been approved to tutor, providing individualized support and guidance to help them understand key concepts and achieve academic success.
• Work with students who may be experiencing difficulties in the course or under stress, providing a supportive and non-judgmental environment to help them overcome challenges.
• Help students understand ideas and concepts presented in the course or textbook, using a variety of teaching strategies and resources to engage and motivate learners.
• Provide friendly, courteous, and confidential service to every student you meet, maintaining a positive and respectful attitude at all times.
• Use a computer to follow a schedule of appointments and engage in tutoring, maintaining up-to-date electronic reports on each tutoring session.
• Maintain knowledge of materials available in the Learning Center, staying up-to-date with new materials and software programs used by students.
• Cooperate in the ongoing activities of the Learning Center, participating in periodic tutor training and staff meetings to ensure that you are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to support students effectively.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following requirements:

• Education Level: Associate's degree or higher in a related field of study.
• No experience necessary (entry level).
• Final grade of B+ (3.3 GPA) or higher in the course(s) you would like to tutor OR equivalent related coursework at another regionally accredited institution.
• Overall Cumulative GPA of B (3.0 GPA) or higher.
• Written recommendation from a professor or faculty member in the course/discipline.

Preferred Candidates

We are particularly interested in candidates who possess the following qualities:

• Can tutor multiple courses.
• Have taken higher-level coursework in the discipline than that they wish to tutor.
• Have prior experience working with students one-on-one or in small groups.
• Have experience working with diverse populations, including those learning the English language.
• Have participated in College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) certification training.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish; English and another language will be considered.
