Job Summary
As a Surgical Technology Instructor at Concorde Career Colleges, you will be responsible for providing active and effective learning experiences for students in all applicable educational settings. You will serve as a professional and academic role model, demonstrating expertise in surgical technology and a commitment to student satisfaction. Your primary responsibilities will include teaching in classrooms, labs, clinical and online settings, as well as participating in campus and student activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Instruct classes as assigned, preparing lesson plans and course materials as required
- Objectively assess students for academic performance, providing regular and constructive feedback
- Effectively organize and present subject matter to students, utilizing instructional plans and learning management systems
- Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning, setting an example for professionalism and conduct
- Proactively inform Program Directors of any student attendance, academic, or behavioral concerns
- Facilitate tutoring and makeup work as needed, ensuring and monitoring student participation
- Record keeping, scanning, and other administrative tasks as required
- Participate in ongoing faculty and professional development activities, including Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and certification requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Credentialed in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA)
- Minimum of four years of clinical experience in surgical technology, with at least 2 years in the operating room scrub role within the last 5 years
- Minimum of an associate degree in surgical technology
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple tasks and responsibilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in surgical technology or a related field
- Experience in teaching or education
- Familiarity with learning management systems and educational technology
