About GEICO and the Role
GEICO is a leading insurance provider with a rich history of innovation and customer satisfaction. Our Finance Technologies team is at the forefront of leveraging technology to drive business success, and we're looking for a talented Senior Solution Architect to join our remote team. As a Senior Solution Architect - Core Financials Systems, you'll be responsible for providing expert guidance and solutions to support our Accounting and Financial Operations departments, driving the adoption of best practices, and ensuring the alignment of technology with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive Solution Development: Leverage your deep functional and technical expertise to drive the development of solutions that meet the current and future needs of our Finance department and GEICO as a whole.
- Collaborate Across Functions: Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle, working closely with Finance and Technology leaders to ensure that systems are well-designed, efficient, and meet business expectations.
- Lead Design Sessions: Lead design sessions with peers to ensure that systems are designed with the user in mind, are efficient, and meet business requirements.
- Partner with Finance Leaders: Collaborate with Finance Leaders across various departments, including Controllers, Financial Reporting, Treasury, Cost Management, Finance QA & Systems, and Technology Cost Management, to ensure their organizational technology goals are met.
- Develop Project Roadmaps: Work with Business leaders to develop project roadmaps that align with business objectives and are sequenced by priority and resource availability.
- Influence and Manage Expectations: Support and influence customers and stakeholders, managing divergent expectations and ensuring that solutions meet business needs.
- Ensure Control and Governance: Establish and maintain a strong control and governance framework to support SOX and Audit reviews, ensuring the integrity of our financial systems.
- Facilitate Business and Technology Discussions: Facilitate discussions between Business and Technology leaders at various levels to ensure alignment towards long-term goals.
- Analyze and Translate Requirements: Analyze and translate business and functional specifications and change requests into technical specifications, driving the development of solutions that meet business needs.
- Share Best Practices: Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
Essential Qualifications
- 20+ Years of Finance Systems Experience: Proven experience in Finance Systems, with a deep understanding of industry-leading ERP solutions, including PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS, Oracle Cloud, Workday, or SAP.
- 10+ Years of Lead Experience: Experience in guiding teams in support of Finance Systems, with a strong track record of leadership and collaboration.
- 15+ Years of Core Financials Experience: Experience working with Core Financials systems, including GL, AP, PO, FA, AR, and Expenses, via major vendors such as PeopleSoft, Oracle EBS, Oracle Cloud, Workday, or SAP.
- Deep Finance Domain Expertise: Ability to work with senior Finance leaders to interpret their process and functional needs into system solutions.
- Strong Understanding of Accounting Processes: Strong understanding of Accounting processes and reporting expectations, with the ability to partner with Finance Leaders.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate and work directly with business leaders across Technology and Finance.
- Solid Project Management Skills: Solid understanding of project management techniques, methodologies, and best practices.
- Strong Problem-Solving Abilities: Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Software Development Life Cycle Experience: Knowledge and experience with the software development life cycle.
- Team-Oriented Collaborative Environment: Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent education or work experience.
- ERP Implementation Experience: Experience implementing and supporting major ERP solutions.
- Finance Operations Technologies Experience: Experience with Finance Operations Technologies and Purchasing systems.
