We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Residential Youth Counselor to join our team, providing direct care and supervision to youth in a group home setting. As a Residential Youth Counselor, you will play a vital role in teaching life skills, promoting education, and fostering a therapeutic environment that supports the physical, emotional, and psychological well-being of our residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide general supervision, counseling, and direct care to youth, applying reasonable prudent parent standards and promoting healthy activities, problem-solving skills, and education
- Guide and execute daily routines, including meal preparation, sleep, recreation, health, hygiene, safety, and discipline
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, ensuring the health and well-being of youth
- Prepare and serve meals, discard expired foods, and perform other food preparation duties as needed
- Dispense and record prescribed medications, noting and reporting side effects, and adhering to medication storage protocols
- Develop and maintain professional skills through mandatory staff development and in-service training
- Document client status, behavior, and treatment responses, submitting reports in a timely manner
- Perform clerical duties, including answering phones, charting in resident logs, and writing critical incident reports as needed
- Transport clients in a safe and responsible manner using the facility vehicle
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required
- At least 1 year of experience in adolescent supervision
- Valid Driver's License required
- Must maintain valid CPR and First Aid Certification
- Medical-related skills and Spanish-speaking abilities are a plus
- Must be 21 years or older
- Successful completion of Criminal Record Clearance, Child Abuse Index Clearance, TB and Medical History Review Clearance, and Employment Verification required prior to start date
