About the Role
Our growing Pain Management practice is seeking an experienced Medical Coder to join our team. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate coding, billing, and compliance for chronic care services, pump refills, and specialty procedures. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and skilled in policy research and coding for new services in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Accurately assign CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes for pain management services, including chronic care management, pump refills, orthopedic spine procedures, X-rays, podiatry, and GI-related services.
• Research and implement new coding requirements for emerging treatments and services.
• Conduct policy research to stay current with payer guidelines, regulatory updates, and AAPC coding standards.
• Review medical records and provider documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Collaborate with physicians, billing staff, and administrative teams to resolve coding discrepancies and optimize reimbursement.
• Provide guidance and training to team members on coding updates and best practices.
Qualifications
• AAPC Certification (CPC, CPMA, or equivalent) required and in good standing.
• Minimum 3–5 years of medical coding experience, preferably in pain management, chronic care, or multi-specialty services.
• Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS Level II coding.
• Proven ability to research and code new services and maintain compliance with U.S. healthcare regulations.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• Experience working in a medical practice, ASC (Ambulatory Surgery Center), or specialty clinic environment preferred.
Preferred Skills
• Familiarity with pain pump refills and chronic care management coding.
• Experience with orthopedic spine, podiatry, X-rays, and GI services.
• Knowledge of payer requirements and prior authorization processes.
Pay: From $27.00 per hour
