Medical Scribe for Veteran Disability Exams

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Scribe to assist with Veteran Disability Exams and DBQ Support. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical transcription and a strong understanding of medical terminology. This is a remote, part-time position requiring intermediate expertise. Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced medical scribe to provide real-time documentation support for Veteran Disability Benefits Questionnaire (DBQ) exams. The ideal candidate has strong medical terminology knowledge, experience with musculoskeletal, dermatologic, and genitourinary conditions, and the ability to accurately translate clinical findings into structured VA-compliant documentation. This is a remote, contract-based opportunity with flexible scheduling. Key Responsibilities: Document clinical findings during virtual or in-person veteran disability exams Accurately complete structured DBQ templates Capture detailed medical history using required format: Onset Date Onset (event and/or issue) Course Current Symptoms Medications / Surgeries / Procedures Draft medical nexus statements when directed Ensure documentation aligns with VA standards and medical-legal clarity Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality Required Qualifications: Prior experience as a medical scribe (2+ years preferred) Strong knowledge of medical terminology Familiarity with musculoskeletal, dermatology, and genitourinary conditions Experience documenting objective findings (ROM, functional impact, flare analysis) Excellent grammar and structured clinical writing skills Ability to work in real-time during exams Preferred Qualifications: Experience with VA Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) Experience in orthopedics, primary care, or occupational medicine Knowledge of service-connection and nexus language Prior military or veteran healthcare documentation experience Skills Required: EMR documentation Medical terminology Clinical summarization Strong typing speed (60+ WPM preferred) Attention to detail Ability to follow structured templates precisely Project Details: Contract-based / per exam or hourly Estimated 3–10 exams per week (varies) Exams typically 30–60 minutes Immediate start preferred To Apply, Please Provide: Summary of your medical scribe experience Any experience with VA DBQs or disability documentation Typing speed Availability (time zone & hours) Sample redacted clinical documentation (if available) We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented professional who understands the importance of precise medical documentation in supporting veterans’ claims.
