About the Role: Substitute Teacher
We're seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Substitute Teacher to join our team in Linden, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to work on your own schedule while making a positive impact on students' educational journeys. Our substitutes are the backbone of our operation, and we're committed to providing you with the tools, support, and competitive compensation you deserve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher
- Adapt to various teaching environments and lesson plans, ensuring continuity and engagement for students
- Develop and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment that fosters student growth and respect
- Communicate effectively with school staff, administrators, and our Scoot Education team to ensure seamless assignments
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your teaching skills and stay updated on best practices
Essential Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
- Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
- NJ Substitute Credential
- Background check & TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this)
- Full COVID-19 vaccination
- A passion for education and putting students first
- An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role
- Specialized training or certifications in areas like Special Education, ESL, or STEM
- Experience working with diverse student populations and adapting to various classroom settings

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility and adaptability in responding to changing circumstances
