Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our team at our Walgreens location in Barberton, OH. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in providing patient care and customer service to our patients and customers. Key ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications, including counting, measuring, and labeling medications.
- Process prescriptions, including verifying patient information, checking for potential interactions, and ensuring that medications are dispensed correctly.
- Provide patient education and counseling on medication use, side effects, and potential interactions.
- Answer patient and customer questions, provide information on medications and health-related topics, and resolve customer complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medication lists and allergy information.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including monitoring and reporting on patient satisfaction and medication errors.
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering and stocking medications and supplies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the pharmacist or pharmacy manager.
Essential Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or ExCPT certification required; PTCB or ExCPT recertification required every 2 years.
- 1-2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician, preferably in a retail or hospital setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, customers, and healthcare professionals.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and move quickly and efficiently in a retail environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-5 years of experience as a pharmacy technician, preferably in a retail or hospital setting.
- Experience with pharmacy software and technology, including automated dispensing systems and electronic health records.
- Knowledge of pharmacy laws and regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
- Experience with patient education and counseling, including medication therapy management and disease state management.
- Ability to speak multiple languages, including Spanish, Chinese, or other languages commonly spoken in the local community.
