Job Overview
As a Noon Hour Supervisor, your primary responsibility will be to monitor student movement and activities during lunch and recess, ensuring compliance with safety rules and procedures. You will be the guardian of a safe and respectful environment, facilitating structured play, and providing assistance when needed. Your role will also involve communicating effectively with students and staff, adhering to school and district policies, and maintaining the confidentiality of student information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee students in assigned areas, facilitating structured play and ensuring compliance with safety rules and procedures.
- Ensure a safe and respectful environment during meal distribution, eating, at recess, and during cafeteria dismissal.
- Circulate among students on the playground and in the cafeteria, providing assistance when needed.
- Recognize and reward positive behavior in alignment with the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework.
- Show consistency with students and good follow-through with discipline referral and positive reinforcement.
- Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline issues to the appropriate authority immediately, or as soon as reasonably possible.
- Assist with cafeteria/playground set-up and clean-up before and after lunch.
- Communicate effectively with students and staff, maintaining a positive and supportive attitude.
Essential Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Good verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students and staff.
- Experience working with children is preferred, although not essential.
- The ability to walk and stand for long periods, with the capacity to assist in lifting up to 50 lbs. with proper technique.
- Bilingual skills in Spanish and English (written and verbal) are highly preferred, as they will enable you to communicate more effectively with our diverse student body.
Preferred Qualifications:
While not essential, the following qualifications will be advantageous:
- Previous experience as a Noon Hour Supervisor or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of the PBIS framework and experience with positive behavioral interventions.
- First aid and CPR certification.
- Experience working in an educational setting, with an understanding of school policies and procedures.
