Position Overview
We're seeking an experienced Mobile First Architect to join our team on a part-time basis (10-25 hours per week). As a Mobile First Architect, you'll play a critical role in mentoring our existing team and helping lead the design and development of our mobile-first application. Your expertise will be instrumental in creating a scalable, high-performance mobile architecture and guiding our development teams in implementing best practices. The ultimate goal is to help develop the skills of our current offshore team and phase out this role in roughly 3-6 months.
Key Responsibilities
- Mentorship and Team Guidance: Provide guidance and mentorship to our team through code reviews, pair programming sessions, and other methods as needed. Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
- Mobile Architecture Design and Implementation: Design and implement a robust architecture for our mobile-first application, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
- Collaboration with Product: Collaborate with our product team to understand business needs and help implement a system that meets those needs, ensuring alignment with our company's vision and goals.
- Code Quality and Maintainability: Ensure code quality and maintainability by leveraging architectural best practices, such as design patterns, coding standards, and testing methodologies.
- Mobile Technologies and Trends: Bring relevant expertise on mobile technologies, trends, and best practices, staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the field.
- Troubleshooting and Optimization: Troubleshoot and optimize mobile applications for performance, scalability, and security, ensuring a seamless user experience.
- Architectural Discussions and Decisions: Lead architectural discussions and decisions, advocating for user-centric solutions that meet our company's needs and goals.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Document standards and help the team understand their importance, ensuring knowledge sharing and collaboration across the organization.
- Leadership and Skill Gap Analysis: Help leadership understand the skills and skill gaps within the development team, informing strategic decisions and talent development initiatives.
Qualifications
We're looking for a highly experienced and skilled Mobile First Architect with a strong background in mobile application development, architecture, and leadership. The ideal candidate will possess:
- 7+ years of experience in mobile application development (iOS and/or Android)
- Strong expertise in mobile architecture patterns (MVC, MVVM, etc.) and mobile development frameworks (React Native, Flutter, Swift, Kotlin)
- Proven experience in designing scalable, high-performance mobile applications
- Experience designing and implementing robust backends using a mixture of SQL and NoSQL DBs
- Understanding of mobile security best practices and performance optimization techniques
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Extensive experience with NestJS
