**Type of Patients**
Our residents are primarily young adults, with an average age of early 30's. The majority of our residents are committed as Incompetent to Proceed to Trial (78%), with the goal of returning them to their committing courts for disposition of their charges. A smaller percentage (22%) are committed as Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity, with the aim of transitioning them to a less restrictive environment.
**Minimum Qualifications**
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must:
* Be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire
* Hold unencumbered licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse
* Possess one year of nursing experience, with a strong preference for those with prior experience in forensic mental health or a related field
* Be CPR certified or able to complete training
* Be able to complete a full orientation program at the time of hire
* Meet the physical requirements of the position, including the ability to lift and carry 20 lbs., remain alert while on duty, and work 16-hour shifts on occasion
**Candidate Responsibilities**
As an Experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at arenaflex, you will be responsible for:
* Assessing resident complaints and determining the necessary course of action, with notification to your supervisor when required
* Admitting and transferring residents to and from other units or outside sources, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition
* Administering oral and/or injectable medication and controlled medications in accordance with facility policy and within your scope of practice as defined by Florida law
* Observing for side effects or adverse effects to medication and reporting to your assigned supervisor or further assessment and treatment
* Preparing paperwork as required for consults within the facility and outside appointments
* Coordinating residents' appointments with unit staff to ensure medications are appropriately timed and residents are able to move to and from the unit
* Providing emergency medical/psychiatric treatment within your scope of practice as defined by the facility and Florida law, with notification to your supervisor for further assistance
* Completing incident reports factually and objectively within the appropriate time frame as defined by the facility
* Completing progress notes on resident care within the appropriate time frame as defined by the facility
* Advocating for residents' recovery and safety
* Maintaining appropriate and professional behavior during interactions with residents, supervisors, and other staff members
* Displaying professionalism throughout employment, including arriving to work on time, maintaining an accurate timesheet, and maintaining a professional appearance as defined by facility policy
