You will be responsible for reviewing mail for proper date, postage, and good quality barcodes, communicating errors to operators or supervisors, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. Key Responsibilities
As a Mail Technician, your key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring that mail is reviewed for proper date, postage, and good quality barcodes prior to being placed in the appropriate mail trays.
- Communicating errors found in the mail to operators or supervisors to prevent re-work of mail.
- Demonstrating safety and security precautions and following company policies.
- Having some working knowledge of postal requirements.
- Sorting and traying mail.
- Working within all the mailing areas as assigned.
- Replenishing supplies.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Willingsness to cross train to other equipment.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- 2-5 years of experience working in mail.
- The availability to work a flexible work schedule based on business needs and occasional overtime.
- Knowledge of USPS rules and regulations.
- The ability to understand and follow verbal direction in English and read written instructions.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail.
- A high school degree.
- The ability to lift up to 50lbs on a regular and repetitive basis.
- The ability to stand and walk up to 80% of the time.
- The ability to move throughout all departments within the company.
- The ability to be around loud machinery for up to 12 hours/day.
- The ability to be confined in a small area.
- The ability to operate all types of finishing equipment, phones, and computers.
