About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Director to join our team, working on a hybrid model that combines the flexibility of remote work with the collaboration and camaraderie of our office environment. As an Engineering Director, you will be responsible for rethinking and improving engineer insight and product excellence for all YouTube services. You will drive the build, test, and release framework for all of YouTube Engineering, working closely with cross-functional teams and partners to deliver high-quality products and services that meet the needs of our users.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify gaps and develop solutions to address them, contributing to YouTube engineering expertise on broad initiatives
- Manage and grow a team of software engineers, collaborating cross-functionally with partners and teams inside YouTube and across Google
- Take ownership of the overall planning, execution, and progress of complex technical projects
- Develop and grow leadership capability through effective coaching, succession planning, and retention strategies in a fast-paced environment
- Drive the development of engineer tools and processes throughout the software development lifecycle and across platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products and services that meet the needs of our users
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Strong technical leadership and management experience, with a proven track record of delivering complex technical projects
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and partners
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify gaps and develop solutions to address them
- Experience with software development methodologies and tools, including Agile development and version control systems

- Experience with cloud-based technologies and platforms, including Google Cloud Platform
