Job Overview
The Director of Data Science position is designed to spearhead the development and maintenance of centralized reporting capabilities, implement process enhancements and automation, and drive innovative data solutions to deliver robust forecasts and analytics for the broader Risk Finance organization. This role will be instrumental in leading strategic analysis of credit metrics, credit provision, and reserves for Senior Management in Risk and Finance, ensuring that data-driven insights inform critical business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic analysis of arenaflex credit metrics, credit provision, and reserve for Senior Management in Risk and Finance, providing actionable insights that drive business strategy.
- Own and manage specific data assets/packages within Risk Finance, becoming a power user of applicable tools to troubleshoot issues, reconcile results, identify enhancements and automation opportunities, and educate other users to drive adoption.
- Develop and maintain standard and ad-hoc reports used by Risk Finance and/or business partners, offering credit-related analytical support to inform business decisions.
- Develop and present key analyses and recommendations to Senior Management, ensuring that data-driven insights are at the forefront of business strategy.
- Build and maintain relationships across Risk Finance portfolio groups and with partners in Risk, Controllership, Tech, and other areas, fostering a culture of collaboration and data-driven decision-making.
- Provide decision-support with a strong emphasis on developing analytics that identify trends and opportunities in the portfolio, which can be used to optimize Business and Risk decisions.
Essential Qualifications
To excel in this role, you will need:
- Advanced experience working with most of the following: SQL/Hive, Power BI/Tableau, Python/R, VBA, TM1.
- Experience working with a sophisticated level of Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to create compelling data visualizations and presentations.
- Experience in ML modeling is highly desirable, as is a strong foundation in statistical analysis and data science principles.
- Solid financial and analytical skills, with the ability to work with large datasets and draw meaningful conclusions that empower business partners to make informed, data-driven decisions.
- Superior attention to detail, alongside exemplary organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and work within tight timelines.
- A results-driven and proactive approach, with a strong work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills, showcasing the ability to build and maintain relationships and collaborate effectively with team members to achieve goals.
- A Master's degree in advanced mathematics or a statistical discipline is required, demonstrating a deep understanding of data science principles and analytical techniques.
