Key Responsibilities

As an Amazon Houston Operations Manager, you will be responsible for a wide range of activities related to inventory control and waste management. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Cleaning up affected areas and contaminated products in the event of a spill or other incident
• Reconciling inventory and sorting liquidation/waste
• Maintaining and organizing the waste management area
• Salvaging and prepping inventory for resale
• Conducting research, audits, and cycle counts to identify trends and areas for improvement
• Handling and processing waste in accordance with RCRA, DOT, and OSHA regulations
• Presenting data to local leadership and the retail team to reduce inventory losses
• Developing and implementing data collection processes and data management systems
• Designing queries, compiling data, and generating reports in MS Excel
• Implementing, conducting, and administering waste training programs
• Analyzing and determining root cause of inventory adjustments and providing daily feedback to process owners
• Communicating with corporate retail teams on vendor compliance issues and spill reports
• Overseeing the liquidation and waste process and consistently logging data

Essential and Preferred Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in inventory control and waste management, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills. The essential qualifications for this role include:

• A complete and thorough understanding of inventory control and systems in an automated fulfillment center
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Detail-oriented and able to work independently
• Ability to demonstrate integrity and confidentiality
• Understanding of Lean principles and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook)
• Knowledge of DOT, RCRA, and OSHA regulations for storage and transport of hazardous waste
