Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan is seeking a motivated operations professional for the Global Trade Management team within Public Markets Operations. The role involves managing critical trade lifecycle processes, ensuring accuracy and operational excellence, and collaborating with various teams to support day-to-day workflows and project initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Complete daily operational priorities including trade capture, affirmation/confirmation, settlement, and exception resolution for cash and derivative products
- Monitor trade flow across OMS, STP, and downstream systems; identify and resolve breaks in a timely manner
- Support production activities by troubleshooting system, data, or workflow issues
- Maintain a strong understanding of end‑to‑end operational processes, serving as an “expert user” for internal systems and tools
- Assist the team with complex issues, cross‑training, and knowledge sharing
- Provide coverage for team members during absences
- Ensure adherence to operational controls, policies, and procedures
- Verify completeness and accuracy of transaction and reference data
- Perform reconciliations and resolve discrepancies with internal teams, custodians, and broker‑dealers
- Review work prepared by others as needed
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date process documentation
- Collaborate with Technology, Investments, Risk, and external partners on project tasks
- Execute assigned project activities related to workflow changes, automation enhancements, or new market/product onboarding
- Support testing, validation, and implementation for system upgrades, new releases, and defect fixes
- Assist in designing and implementing process enhancements and automation opportunities
- Evaluate and document new markets, products, processes, or systems as directed
- Lead or co‑lead components of change initiatives that improve operational efficiency and data quality
- Develop and execute test plans for changes to systems or processes
- Provide timely and accurate responses to inquiries from Investments, PMs, traders, Risk, Accounting, and other stakeholders
- Participate in developing operational requirements to support new workflows or product launches
- Deliver high‑quality client service by communicating effectively and proactively resolving issues
- Collaborate with Technology, custodians, brokers, counterparties, and third‑party vendors to resolve operational issues
- Maintain effective working relationships to ensure high service levels
- Exchange required information with established service providers
- Representing OTPP professionally in all interactions
Skills
- Relevant university degree (Accounting, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science) or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in Investment Operations, trade support, or middle-office functions
- Strong technical proficiency (Excel, VBA, Python, PL/SQL, Power BI, Power Automate, Copilot, GitHub, etc.) and comfort working with operational datasets
- Strong understanding of the trade lifecycle for cash and derivative products; exposure to clearing and settlement processes is an asset
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to evaluate issues, consider root causes, and recommend solutions
- Solid understanding of accounting, reconciliation, and operational control principles
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-changing environment
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to accuracy
- Self-starter with a continuous-improvement mindset; collaborative team player
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience with global confirmation platforms (e.g., CTM, MarkitWire, ICE, Traiana) is an asset
- Experience with SimCorp or similar investment book-of-record systems is an asset
- Experience with Charles River or similar order management systems is an asset
- Enrollment in CFA, CPA, or FRM programs is an asset
