About the Role
This exciting position is located in New Jersey, USA, and offers a competitive hourly rate of $24/hour with full-time employment benefits. As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers our analytics capabilities and business intelligence solutions. Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Data Engineer at arenaflex, you will be responsible for:
- Architecting Data Solutions: Apply your extensive knowledge of technology choices, design patterns, and best practices across the Data Engineering ecosystem to build systems that solve complex business problems and deliver measurable value.
- Building Scalable Systems: Construct robust systems and datasets using programming best practices, fundamental data management principles, modern data storage techniques, cutting-edge distributed systems technologies, and operational excellence methodologies.
- Data Modeling and Analysis: Analyze source systems, define critical data sources and transformation requirements, design logical data models, and thoroughly document all designs and specifications for future reference and knowledge transfer.
- Quality and Productivity Focus: Demonstrate passion for quality and productivity by employing professional development techniques, coding standards, and guidelines that ensure deliverable excellence and maintainable solutions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Effectively communicate with diverse teams and stakeholders, professionally escalate technical and organizational issues, and skillfully resolve conflicts to maintain project momentum and team harmony.
- Code Review and Mentorship: Conduct thorough peer reviews of work, actively mentor other team members, and help develop their skills, deepen their understanding of our systems, and enhance their ability to deliver results.

Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Professional Experience: A minimum of 3+ years of post-graduation professional software development experience, demonstrating proficiency in designing and implementing data solutions.
- System Design Expertise: 3+ years of experience in system design or architecture (including design patterns, reliability, and scaling) for both new and existing systems, showing the ability to create robust and scalable solutions.
- Programming Proficiency: Strong coding skills in at least one programming language, with the ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
- Bachelor's Degree: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications would be highly valued:
- Full Development Lifecycle Experience: 3+ years of experience with the complete software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build cycles, testing, and operations.
- Advanced Degree: A Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Cloud Platform Experience: Experience with cloud computing platforms and services, particularly in designing and implementing cloud-native data solutions.
- Big Data Technologies: Proficiency with big data frameworks and tools such as Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, Kafka, or similar technologies.
- Database Expertise: Deep knowledge of relational databases, NoSQL databases, and data warehousing solutions.
- Data Pipeline Orchestration: Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow, Luigi, or similar frameworks.
