All Jobs  >  (1099) SmartSheet Builder- Independent Contractor PuzzleHR Apply (1099) SmartSheet Builder- Independent Contractor Fully Remote • Remote Worker - United States Apply Description (1099) SmartSheet Builder - Independent Contractor  Contract Term: April 2026 – August 2026 Engagement Type: Independent Contractor (1099) Work Location: Remote (U.S.) Compensation: Project- or milestone-based (per Independent Contractor Agreement)  Independent Contract Engagement Overview  We are seeking an experienced SmartSheet Builder to provide specialized SmartSheet design and build services for a defined, time-limited project anticipated to run from April through August 2026.  This opportunity is offered solely as an independent contractor engagement and is not an employment position. The contractor will provide services as an independently established business, delivering defined SmartSheet solutions pursuant to a written Independent Contractor Agreement.  Nature of the Engagement  The contractor:  - Will perform services outside the usual course of our ordinary business operations  - Will exercise independent judgment and control over how services are performed  - Is engaged for specialized, project-based expertise  - May concurrently provide services to other clients or customers  Scope of Services & Deliverables  The contractor will deliver SmartSheet-based solutions that may include:  - Design and build of end-to-end SmartSheet systems (intake sheets, trackers, reports, dashboards)  - Development of advanced cross-sheet formulas (INDEX/MATCH, COLLECT, nested logic)  - Configuration of SmartSheet automations (alerts, approvals, update workflows)  - Creation of scalable data architecture and workspace hierarchy  - Development of KPI-focused dashboards and reporting views  - Assessment and optimization of existing SmartSheet builds  - Documentation and limited system handoff materials upon completion  Specific deliverables, milestones, and acceptance criteria will be defined in the Independent Contractor Agreement or Statement of Work (SOW).  Required Contractor Qualifications  - Professional-level experience delivering advanced SmartSheet solutions for clients  - Demonstrated expertise with SmartSheet formulas, automations, reports, and dashboards  - Experience designing scalable SmartSheet systems across multiple use cases  - Experience using SmartSheet Control Center (SCC), including:  - Template development  - Workspace partitioning  - Global updates and deployment  - Ability to independently manage scope, prioritization, and delivery timelines  Preferred Experience  - Background in operations, project management, or process improvement  - Experience with additional workflow or productivity platforms (e.g., Excel, Monday.com)  - Prior work supporting field teams, operational teams, or multi-location environments  - Ability to recommend SmartSheet best practices and architectural improvements  Compensation  Compensation will be provided on a project or milestone basis, as defined in a written Independent Contractor Agreement. The contractor will invoice for completed deliverables in accordance with agreed-upon contractual terms.  The contractor retains discretion over pricing structure and is responsible for all business expenses, taxes, insurance, and licenses related to the services.  Independent Contractor Classification Acknowledgment  This engagement does not create an employment relationship. Contractors engaged under this posting acknowledge and agree that:  - They operate an independently established trade, occupation, or business  - They are not eligible for employee benefits  - They control the manner and means by which services are performed  - They are responsible for all tax obligations and statutory compliance  - The relationship is governed exclusively by contract  Portfolio (Optional but Encouraged)  Contractors may, at their discretion, provide a link to a professional portfolio, case studies, or examples of prior SmartSheet systems or comparable project work demonstrating relevant expertise.  Portfolio materials should reflect previously completed independent or client work and must not include confidential, proprietary, or client-restricted information.
