Project Coordinator Location: Remote (within Southern California region preferred)  Compensation: $75,000 - $95,000 annually Spheros Environmental is looking for a Project Coordinator to provide support to project teams and project managers to ensure projects meet client goals, adhere to deadlines, and are compliant with applicable environmental regulations.  The individual will apply technical resource knowledge and previous experience to help project managers and natural resource experts to organize and carry out biological resource studies, data collection, and quality assurance/quality control, reporting, with some assistance in client coordination. Key Responsibilities: Admin - Assist with preparing project setup for new projects and current projects. Can identify potential errors and understand contracts, budgets and planning to complete the project set up with minimal help from the PM. - Assists project teams with facilitating communication where appropriate, including scheduling and field logistics. - Proactively assist teammates and make valuable contributions. - Other ad hoc duties and responsibilities as assigned. Project Management - Ensure all tasks are completed within established timeframes while remaining flexible to the evolving needs of the business and the project. - Adapt to shifting priorities and seek timely assistance from a supervisor if meeting deadlines becomes challenging. Adds Value to the PM by understanding project schedules, planning, & staffing of the project teams.  Assists the PM in the management of the logistical plans.  - Help with project invoices if needed and assist with collections and preparation of purchase orders.  Understands budget planning and can identify budget overruns and contract adherence and staff planning to better assist the PM with management of the fiscal aspects of the project. - Produce high-quality work with in-depth understanding of the client contracts and the fiscal health of the projects. - Approaches tasks with enthusiasm and maintain a positive demeanor. Communicates proactively, professionally, and with clarity. Demonstrates proactive problem-solving and willingness to assist. - Monitor the progress of multiple projects and implement processes to track deliverables and meet project schedules. - Collaborate with project managers to delegate tasks and ensure that resource expertise and capacity meets project demands. - Assist project managers and project resource specialists so that deliverables comply with applicable regulations, standards and best practices. - Deepen natural resource expertise in a collaborative environment working alongside high-level natural resource experts. Leadership / Management - Identify and advocate for process improvements. - Embrace life-long learning – open to suggestions and new ideas. - Identify any issues moving forward and work through them with problem-solving and solution-oriented mindset. Financial Acumen - Understands accurate timekeeping and alerts management if a deadline will be missed. - Coordinates functions under approved or proposed budgets. - Contribute to project proposals and company processes. Technical - Assist project resource specialists and field staff with field technology implementation and data management and QA/CC. - Assist project resource specialists with standardization of field data collection methodologies and protocols. - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of at least one natural resource area of expertise (e.g. botany, herpetology, avian ecology, wetlands, etc.), management protocols and relevant scientific literature and research. - Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of regulations, requirements, and best practices. Client Service - Communicate professionally and timely with colleagues. - Participate in meetings, taking and distributing meeting notes, and sharing project status updates as necessary. - Assist with the preparation and reviewing of environmental impact analyses, technical reports, monitoring reports, or similar where appropriate. Qualifications: - 3+ years in biology, ecology, botany, or related disciplines. - Relevant experience with natural resources studies, environmental permitting for restoration, renewable energy, utilities, municipalities. - Familiarity with state and federal environmental regulations (FESA, CESA, CEQA, CWA, and NEPA). - 1-2 years project coordinator or related experience minimum - BS in biology, ecology, botany or related disciplines, and/or equivalent experience. - Microsoft Office Products, Sharepoint, ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, and willingness to learn working with new software.
