About the Role
The Chief Specialist in Data Examination at blithequark holds a critical and influential position, directing the essential vision, plan, and engineering of the association's data investigation and detailing scene. As a Principal Engineer, you will be instrumental in molding the long-term technical strategy, embracing innovation, and providing actionable insights as a technical leader for the team. This role demands a robust approach, blending direct technical guidance, mentorship, and active participation in risk and innovation management.
Key Responsibilities
- Leads and coaches a team of specialists, providing technical guidance, sharing best practices, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Adheres to and drives modern software practices through design reviews, manages system design through distinct interfaces across various components, and conducts code reviews utilizing data/telemetry for informed decision-making.
- Develops "top-tier" engineering for services by ensuring they are well-structured, modularized, secure, reliable, diagnosable, easily monitored, and reusable.
- Improves test coverage for services, organizes and implements integration tests, and resolves bottlenecks.
- Ensures testability, compactness/monitoring, reliability, and viability, understanding when code is ready to be shared and deployed.
- Focuses on business needs through a data-driven approach, investigates and improves automation, reliability, and monitoring for distributed products.
- Sets the strategic vision for data analysis and reporting, aligning with organizational goals, and provides leadership in guiding the overall direction of data analysis technical initiatives.
- Designs, develops, and optimizes complex data models and reporting structures, driving the design and implementation of flexible and efficient data analysis and reporting frameworks.
- Ensures the integrity, security, and performance of data products and reporting solutions by collaborating with platforms, data architecture, and administration teams.
- Defines and implements the long-term technical strategy for data analysis, incorporating advancements and industry trends.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, business analysts, data engineers, platforms specialists, and IT experts, to develop comprehensive data solutions.
- Fosters a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and skill development, leading technical authority gatherings and sessions to enhance the engineering community within the organization.
- Establishes and upholds data quality standards and best practices, implementing processes for data validation, purification, and accuracy.
- Evaluates and selects appropriate data analysis and reporting tools to meet business needs, leading requirement meetings and partnering closely with platforms and infrastructure teams during the evaluation and implementation of these tools.
- Partners with engineering and development teams to create and maintain documentation for data analysis processes, reporting designs, and data models.
- Monitors the performance of data analysis and reporting systems, providing technical authority to drive security and scalability of data products and reporting solutions.
- Implements measures to optimize performance and investigate issues, providing strategic insights and recommendations based on data analysis to support decision-making at the organizational level.
- Recommends infrastructure upgrades to support business growth and evolving technology needs.
- Utilizes Azure services, such as Azure SQL DW, ADLS, Azure Event Hub, Cosmos DB, Databricks, Delta-Lake, to enhance and accelerate the delivery of data products and services.
- Implements big data and NoSQL solutions by developing scalable data processing platforms to drive high-value insights to the organization.
Essential Qualifications
- Proven history with at least 15+ years of hands-on experience in data analysis and reporting roles.
- 5+ years of experience in leadership or senior roles, demonstrating the ability to effectively guide and lead a team.
- 5+ years of experience working with Cloud technologies, such as ADLS, Azure Databricks, Spark, Azure Synapse, Cosmos DB, DBT, and other big data technologies.
- Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools, languages, ML, and frameworks (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, SQL, Python, R).
- Proficiency in data visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools to effectively communicate insights.
- Demonstrated ability in working with cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, to design and implement scalable and efficient data analysis solutions.
- In-depth understanding and practical application of Lakehouse architecture principles, combining the best of data lakes and data warehouses for robust and flexible data management.
- Advanced SQL skills, with a strong understanding of relational databases and business data, capable of writing complex SQL queries against various data sources.
- Experience managing high-volume and high-velocity data streams, designing frameworks that can handle the demands of real-time or near-real-time analysis.
- Experience in shaping the strategic vision for data analysis and reporting initiatives within an organization.
- Successful management of data analysis projects, including planning, execution, and delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to drive innovation, adapt to emerging technologies, and implement industry best practices.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Graduate degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Data Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Relevant industry certifications are a plus.
- Experience in retail, manufacturing, e-commerce, supply chain.
