The Role: Driving DevOps Excellence
As our Principal DevOps Engineer, you will be a technical authority and individual contributor who will drive organizational change by developing and implementing DevOps tooling, practices, and culture. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our enterprise-wide strategy and ensuring the adoption of best practices across the organization. Your expertise will be instrumental in enhancing our visibility, scalability, availability, security, and cost performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of DevOps strategy, covering design, tooling, practices, and culture.
- Establish and maintain DevOps best practices, including version control, code review, automated testing, and deployment techniques.
- Design and manage infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar, to provision and manage resources across cloud environments.
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar, ensuring fast and reliable application deployment.
- Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure adherence to industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and analyze DevOps pipelines and practices, identifying areas for improvement, optimization, and automation to enhance deployment consistency and accuracy.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices, and make recommendations for their adoption within our DevOps ecosystem.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior colleagues, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
Required Qualifications: The Ideal Candidate
To excel in this role, you should possess a Bachelor's degree and have a strong background in DevOps engineering. We're looking for someone with a unique blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and passion for innovation.
Essential Capabilities:
- Experience working in public cloud environments, preferably GCP, Azure, or AWS, and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code concepts and tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar, for automating resource provisioning and configuration.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, and version control systems like Git.
- Strong scripting skills in languages like Python, Bash, or similar.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex DevOps platform issues and provide effective solutions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Capabilities:
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or Cloud Logging Solutions to ensure application performance and system health.
- Knowledge of security best practices in DevOps, including experience with vulnerability scanning, compliance frameworks, and secure deployment practices.
- Leadership experience, including mentoring and guiding junior engineers, is a plus.
