Job Summary:
As a Pharmacy Technician - Remote in Worcester, MA, you will play a critical role in supporting the Prescription department by providing operational support, processing prescriptions, and communicating with patients and healthcare providers. You will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, utilizing your pharmacy management software skills and knowledge to ensure accurate and timely processing of prescriptions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide operational support to the Prescription department location, including processing prescriptions, handling phone calls, and communicating with patients and healthcare providers
- Receive and process requests for prescription refills, renewals, and new prescriptions in an accurate and timely manner
- Perform assigned prescription functions and duties, including checking patient information, lab results, and medication orders
- Take incoming calls and make outreach telephone calls to patients who have requested medication refills or renewals
- Process medication requests following standard procedures and protocols
- Check patient information, including appointment schedules and lab results, to ensure compliance with treatment plans
- Select and pend correct medication, dosage, sig, and number of refills, and update pharmacy records accordingly
- Process prior authorizations for medications not covered by patients' insurance
- Perform tasks focused on fostering teamwork and dedication to patient safety and satisfaction
Requirements and Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
- Current Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Massachusetts
- 1 year of experience as a retail Pharmacy Technician
- Ability to maintain MA Pharmacy Technician licensure
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Previous experience with Pharmacy management software and operational platforms
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
