Summary
The Part-Time Cashier(s) perform a variety of cashiering, customer service, and clerical duties in support of the College’s financial operations. This position is responsible for receiving and processing payments, maintaining accurate financial records, and assisting students, employees, and members of the public with account and payment-related inquiries. The cashier also provides general administrative support to the Business Office and assists with additional duties as assigned.
The regular schedule for these positions will be Monday through Thursday, with one cashier working from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the other from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., every other Friday (with rotating Fridays off). The schedule may rotate between the two cashiers as needed, and each position will serve as backup coverage for the other during absences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Receives, verifies, and processes payments for tuition, fees, and other College-related transactions, issuing receipts as appropriate.
Maintains accurate records of cash collections and related financial transactions in accordance with college policies and procedures.
Provides customer service assistance to students, employees, and members of the public regarding payments, accounts, payment plans, and refunds.
Responds to phone, email, and in-person inquiries related to cashiering and payment services.
Assists with preparation, reconciliation, and distribution of financial reports, receipts, and related documentation.
Supports on-campus and off-campus registration activities by assisting students with payment processing and account questions.
Maintains organized financial records and assists in ensuring compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
Collaborates with Business Office staff to support daily operational needs.
Performs other related duties within the Business Office as assigned.

Education Minimum:
High School Diploma or GED
Education Preferred:
Associate’s degree in accounting, business, or related field.
Experience Minimum:
One (1) to three (3) years cashiering and/or customer service experience within a business office environment.
Experience Preferred:
Experience within a Community College Business Office setting.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedural manuals, policies, and guidance provided by outside sources.
Ability to write routine correspondences.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the College.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiple, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and interest.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Ability to interpret student accounts, determine amount(s) due, and how to explain the logic to the student.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
