About the Role
As an Overnight Retail Store Shift Manager at Iowa 80 Truckstop, you will be responsible for overseeing the driver supply department, driving sales growth, and ensuring operational excellence during your shift. This is a full-time position with a competitive starting pay of $14/hour, paid every Friday. You'll have the opportunity to implement your ideas, lead a team, and contribute to the success of our retail store.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve overall sales and operations for the driver supply department by managing new and current products, ensuring display quantities and par levels are optimized for sales growth.
- Stay up-to-date with current and new products for drivers, ordering new stock as needed, and marking non-moving or excessive items as discontinued in the system.
- Ensure accurate receiving, reviewing all receiving documents for errors, and verifying that all items are within target margin requirements.
- Reinforce a customer-centric and safety-focused culture among associates, prioritizing customer satisfaction and safety above all else.
- Recommend organizational structure, objectives, and staffing requirements, making suggestions for improving policy or procedures.
- Provide effective on-the-job training to associates as needed, identifying areas where additional training is required.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and practices, making recommendations for implementation to drive business growth.
- Assume special activities and responsibilities as directed, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing needs.
Essential and Preferred Qualifications
To succeed as an Overnight Retail Store Shift Manager, you'll need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent; a degree in business or a related field is a plus.
- Previous retail management experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment like a truckstop.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and train associates.
