Description CEG is seeking a motivated and critical thinker with strong technical, quantitative, communication, and organizational skills who excels in a dynamic and occasionally fast-paced work environment.  The Manager/ Senior Manager will report to a Partner of Current Energy Group. The Power System Planning team works with clients who engage on electric utility proceedings with a focus on grid planning and operations issues that impact customer rates and the achievement of public policy goals. The Manager/ Senior Manager will help execute and further develop the electric resource planning portfolio for CEG. This includes regulatory proceedings: IRPs, CPCNs, power cost, avoided cost, DSM, and other cases, as well as engagements on market strategy, and public reports on resource planning issues.   Responsibilities Project Work - Assist CEG’s consulting practice in executing client projects with a primary focus on power system planning.   - Assist with project management, including development of work plans, coordination of deliverable development, and communications with clients.  - Qualitative and quantitative evaluation of power system planning studies conducted by peers including assessment of assumptions and methodologies.  - Develop, utilize, and maintain custom spreadsheet-based tools, optimization models, and other analytical platforms to evaluate energy technologies, programs, and portfolios.  - Conduct independent analysis to assess impacts of different policies.  - Develop client deliverables: reports, presentations, and formal regulatory filings. Assist with editing, formatting, proofreading, fact-checking, and summarizing comments, reports, and presentations to ensure accuracy and professionalism.  - Contribute to the firm’s thought leadership on best practices for power system planning and implementation.   - Optional: Oversee or perform analysis utilizing capacity expansion, production cost, and resource adequacy models including the development of relevant databases.  Project Management - Lead and manage projects and proposals, including budget oversight, staff coordination, and client relations, with a focus on electric-sector resource planning issues.  - Organize meetings, schedules, and team resources to ensure deadlines are met and client satisfaction is achieved. The Consulting Manager will also maintain professional relationships with clients.  - Oversee and prioritize multiple projects and workstreams at the same time.  - Write proposals and participate in other business development activities.  Team Management - Manage and train staff as both a project manager and staff manager.  - Act as a critical thinker and decision-maker in addressing challenges and finding solutions.  - Maintain clear and open communication with the team to ensure alignment on goals, expectations, and updates.  - Support professional growth by offering guidance, coaching, and training opportunities.  Desired Qualifications - 6-8 years of general industry experience, with a preference for electric utility regulation or modeling, or an advanced degree in Economics, Energy and Environmental Policy, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Operations Research, or related field. An advanced degree may satisfy 2 years of experience. - A minimum of 3 years of project management experience in a consulting position or similar role.  - Skilled in scoping and executing spreadsheet analyses, developing models, and creating client-ready deliverables to communicate findings.  - Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams.  - Background or experience in technical or legal writing and research.  - Proficient in multitasking and prioritizing critical tasks while managing conflicting demands under tight deadlines.  - Experienced in managing and training staff, with a proven ability to delegate tasks effectively within a team.  - Optional: Experience with Capacity Expansion Planning and Production Cost Modeling Software (one of EnCompass, AURORA, PLEXOS, ReEDS, Sienna, GridPath, GenX, etc.).    A successful candidate does not have to satisfy every requirement listed above. Applying gives the opportunity to be considered.   Salary Manager: $120,000-$150,000 Senior Manager: $130,000-$160,000   Salary negotiable and will be commensurate with experience. In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible for a performance based incentive bonus.
