Low Voltage Telecom Instructor

Per Scholas is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing no-cost tech training programs to individuals seeking to enter high-growth tech careers. They are looking for a Low Voltage and Telecom Instructor to deliver training, assess student progress, and maintain curriculum materials. The instructor will support students in achieving their career goals in low voltage and telecom fields through effective instructional delivery. Responsibilities - Support instructor-led training that prepares students for entry-level to mid-level careers in low voltage and telecom - Responsibilities include daily instruction, assessment administration, attendance, one-on-one tutoring, daily evaluation and monitoring of individual student progress, addressing student violations with students in a consistent manner, and more - Provide students with access to relevant resources for outside learning on technologies and study aids relevant to the curriculum - Work closely with the team to identify student needs, provide the necessary support, establish individualized plans for student achievement, and participate in regular student-status meetings - Maintain and update Salesforce and/or our LMS with student grades, certification scores, and progress notes - Support and maintain the training curricula, syllabi, lesson plans, and other classroom materials Skills - 1-3 years of teaching or training experience - Strong technical background; able to grasp and convey highly technical subject matter - Ability to respond clearly to live digital conversations via a digital engagement platform such as Zoom or an in-person training environment - Strong communication skills - Commitment to ongoing professional development, applicable certifications, and coursework to stay current with rapidly evolving technology trends and advancements - Required any of the following Certifications (Core Requirement): CompTIA Network+ - Cisco certification (e.g., CCNA) - Specialized cabling certification (e.g., BICSI Installer) - ESA Certified Alarm Technician Level - Network Engineering Experience with Network Devices, firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless access points - Experience with troubleshooting hardware/software i.e., ‘Computer Break/Fix' - Experience with supporting Rack Servers Dell PowerEdge / HP Proliant - Operating Systems Support - Experience as a corporate trainer or prior instructional experience - Knowledge of industry-standard cable specifications - Familiarity with low-voltage topology (MDF, IDF, CDF) - Low Voltage support and experience in a data center environment - The ability to write content and curriculum related to instructional outcomes is a plus - Ability to train and secure Cisco Network Essentials certification - OSHA 10-Hour Online Training Courses - NFPA 70E - Electrical Safety Training Benefits - Holidays & PTO: Full-Time Per Scholas team members enjoy over 40 days of paid time off each year through a mix of holidays, vacation, and sick/personal time! - Comprehensive Medical Coverage: Benefit eligible employees can choose from multiple medical plans through Cigna or Kaiser Permanente (where available), with options to fit your needs. - Dental and Vision Insurance: Eligible employees can select from two dental plan options and a vision plan. - Retirement Savings: 401(k) plan with a current 100% employer match on contributions up to 6%, eligible employees are offered entry and full vesting after 90 days with the company. - Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Free, confidential, 24/7 access to counseling, legal support, and financial resources for employees and their household members - Parental Leave: Eligible employees are offered up to 6 weeks of 100% paid parental leave to support employees as they welcome a new child and bond with their family. - Additional Benefits & Perks: Eligible employees have access to employer-paid life and AD&D Insurance, as well as employer-paid short-term disability coverage, with the option to elect additional life coverage and long-term disability insurance. - Flexible Spending accounts are available for healthcare, dependent care, and commuting expenses. - Per Scholas also offers a range of voluntary benefits, including: Accident, Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, Legal Services, and Pet Insurance. - Additional resources include healthcare concierge support, financial wellness tools, and employee discount programs.
