Role Description
Lumicera Health Services is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II to join our team! Under direction from the Pharmacist-in-Charge and other pharmacists in the Specialty Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Technician II is primarily responsible for assisting the pharmacist in obtaining all the necessary information for dispensing and adjudicating a medication correctly.
• Answer phone calls and contact doctors and patients via fax or phone or other communication means.
• Accurately translate prescription information and all other information obtained to dispense the medication into the pharmacy dispensing software.
• Select the medication to be dispensed, attach the prescription label to the medication, and ensure all prescription information is packaged with the dispensed medication in advance of a final check by the pharmacist.
• Obtain and verify patient information including demographics, allergies, medication history, comorbidities, and payer information.
• Function with and assist any other area in the facility as needed regarding technician type duties.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED. Some college preferred.
• National CPhT and/or registration/licensure required per employee’s residing state’s requirements.
• Minimum two years pharmacy support experience or healthcare environment experience preferred.
• Participate in, adhere to, and support compliance program objectives.
• The ability to consistently interact cooperatively and respectfully with other employees.
Requirements
• Responsible for answering the inbound calls from patients and doctors’ offices.
• Responsible for contacting doctors to obtain necessary prescription information to properly fill a prescription.
• Responsible for the correct shipment of the specialty pharmacy orders.
• Responsible for ensuring adequate inventory of pharmaceuticals in the pharmacy, including ordering, receipt, verification of orders, and stocking of pharmaceuticals and supplies.
• Responsible for accurate and appropriate completion of clinical pathway information as instructed within questionnaires.
• Responsible for managing failed claims in a timely fashion.
• Responsible for a working knowledge of copay programs, HUB programs, and billing the programs.
• May be responsible for inventory management and entering new inventory into the software.
• Other duties as assigned.
