About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly-skilled Senior Technical Designer to help create an ambitious, multi-platform AAA game. As a Senior Technical Designer at blithequark, you will collaborate closely with the design team to efficiently implement features and content in a smart, robust, and innovative way. Key Responsibilities
- Leverage your Unreal Engine expertise to guide and mentor other designers, enhancing their technical proficiency and rigor by promoting best practices.
- Proactively identify and implement workflow and tool improvements to streamline our design process.
- Troubleshoot design challenges and deliver practical, creative solutions that showcase your technical expertise and innovative thinking.
- Develop robust, maintainable content and features in Unreal Engine/Blueprint, ensuring that our games are of the highest quality and meet our standards of excellence.
- Write design specifications, review them with stakeholders, and make data-driven adjustments to ensure that our designs are informed, effective, and engaging.
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- In-depth knowledge of Unreal Engine (especially Blueprint, UMG, Animation Blueprint, and gameplay systems), with a strong understanding of how to leverage these tools to create innovative and engaging game experiences.
- A strong understanding of 3D math fundamentals, with the ability to apply this knowledge to solve complex design challenges.
- Proficiency in programming with C++, with experience in using this language to develop games and other interactive applications.
- At least 2+ years of experience in a technical design role, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality games and game-related projects.
- Experience in shipping at least one title using Unreal Engine, with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities that come with game development.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve our goals.
- A passion for designing, building, and delivering video games, with a commitment to advancing the art form and pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
Preferred Skills
While not essential, the following skills and qualifications are highly desirable:
- Programming experience with Python, C#, and/or Lua, with the ability to apply this knowledge to develop games and other interactive applications.
