Job Summary
As a Remote Ramp Agent with Southwest Airlines, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of airline ground activities. This includes coordinating planes on the ground, handling freight and baggage, and ensuring that all ground operations are conducted in accordance with company policies and procedures. As a Remote Ramp Agent, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, collaborating with other team members to meet flight departure schedules and deliver exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide friendly and courteous service to all internal and external customers, including passengers, airline staff, and ground handlers.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure the smooth operation of ground activities, including plane coordination, freight handling, and baggage processing.
- Load, unload, and handle baggage, freight, and mail, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Operate ground support equipment, such as belt loaders, air start units, and lift trucks, to facilitate the movement of aircraft and cargo.
- Maintain accurate records and reports, including documentation of cargo and baggage handling.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including those related to hazardous materials and emergency procedures.
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must be able to lift and move objects of up to 70 pounds, and frequently lift and move objects of 40-50 pounds.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent standing, walking, and bending.
- Must be able to work varied shifts, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the aviation industry, or in a related field.
- Knowledge of airline ground operations, including aircraft handling and cargo processing.
- Experience with ground support equipment, such as belt loaders and lift trucks.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
