Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Principal DevOps Engineer to join our team, working remotely from the comfort of your own home. As a Principal DevOps Engineer, you will play a critical role in driving our organization's transformation by developing and implementing DevOps tooling, practices, and culture. You will be responsible for leading the development of our DevOps strategy, ensuring the adoption of best practices, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of our DevOps strategy, covering design, development of tools, practices, and culture
- Establish and implement DevOps best practices, including version control, code review, automated testing, and deployment techniques
- Design and manage infrastructure as code, using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar, to provision and manage resources across cloud environments
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar, ensuring fast and reliable application deployment
- Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure that teams are adhering to industry best practices and regulatory requirements
- Monitor and troubleshoot DevOps pipelines and practices, identifying areas for improvement, optimization, and automation to enhance launch/failback consistency and accuracy
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices, and make recommendations for their adoption within the organization's DevOps environment
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior colleagues, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience working in public cloud environments, such as GCP, Azure, or AWS, and containerization technologies, such as Docker, Kubernetes
- Proficiency in infrastructure as code concepts and tools, such as Terraform, Ansible, for automating resource provisioning and configuration
- Experience with CI/CD pipeline tools, such as Jenkins, CircleCI, and version control systems, such as Git
- Strong scripting skills in languages like Python, Ruby, or similar
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex DevOps platform issues and provide effective solutions
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools, such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Cloud Logging Solutions, to ensure application performance and system health
- Knowledge of security best practices in DevOps, including experience with vulnerability scanning, compliance frameworks, and secure deployment practices
- Leadership experience, including mentoring and guiding junior engineers, is a plus
