Position Overview
As a Part-Time Statistics Analyst I at Blithequark, you will be an integral part of our Details and Analysis team within the Data and Data Gathering department. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the accuracy of sports data across various Blithequark platforms, including television graphics, the Bottom Line, Blithequark.com, Dream, Game Cast, and more. You will work with automated data feeds and utilize manual data entry to guarantee the delivery of accurate, timely, and insightful sports information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guarantee sports information disseminated by Details and Data is accurate, timely, and insightful.
- Work individually and in teams to deliver accurate detailed breakdowns, clock-and-score, and other metrics and data in real-time that power a multitude of Blithequark products and creations.
- Develop and maintain an active knowledge of Details and Data's role in fueling Blithequark's digital products and television productions.
- Verify the accuracy of your own work and that of others; perform with a consistently high level of attention to detail.
- Contribute to production, operations, and initiatives across the newsroom, and support newsroom leaders who are coordinating full- and part-time staff.
- Anticipate potential issues, both daily and long-term, and offer possible solutions. Communicate quickly and clearly with colleagues on these issues.
- Play a proactive role in working with colleagues in developing or refining production processes.
- Be an active participant in team and division meetings.
- Seek and respond to feedback regarding personal performance.
- Stay informed about current office policies and procedures.
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Capabilities:
- Working knowledge of teams, players, and the rules of sports.
- Full schedule availability, which will include evenings (only), weekends, and events.
- Ability to rapidly learn production processes that produce or potentially maintain sports information that drives Blithequark's digital and television products.
- Capacity to achieve a high level of content accuracy in time-sensitive production circumstances.
- Ability to communicate confidently - verbally and in writing - to production managers and colleagues about production issues and opportunities, often through the noise of a busy newsroom.
Preferred Capabilities:
- 1+ years' experience working in sports or potentially statistics, ideally in media.
- Knowledge of how sports information is used in media and for research purposes.
- Working knowledge of Blithequark products and creations.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Office products.
- Experience leading or training a team.
- Ability to speak and write Spanish.
- Experience utilizing social media in a business or news environment.
Required Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education:
- Advanced degree or equivalent.
