Our 988 Crisis Chat Program is a vital resource for individuals in crisis, offering a safe and confidential space to connect with trained counselors. As a supervisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the program's success and providing guidance to our team of Crisis Chat Counselors.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual supervision to Crisis Chat Counselors, ensuring they are equipped to handle crisis chats and provide emotional support to visitors.
- Monitor and assess crisis chats to determine the appropriate means of intervention, including risk assessment, safety planning, and de-escalation.
- Build positive rapport with chat visitors, providing crisis intervention and support to a wide range of individuals.
- Coordinate with emergency responders when active rescue is required, and ensure thorough documentation of all crisis chats.
- Respond to crisis chat visitors as needed to support Counselors on shift, and ensure that each Counselor completes 1.5 chats per hour.
- Conduct daily quality assurance monitoring of chats and texts, with a focus on achieving a minimum 75% quality evaluation score.
- Provide training to new Crisis Chat Counselors, and complete weekly quality assurance reports and performance evaluations.
- Meet with the Assistant Director of Crisis Services regularly to discuss program operations, concerns, and potential improvements.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (Master's degree in Counseling or Social Work preferred).
- 1 year of experience in mental health services, preferably in crisis intervention services, suicide prevention, and intervention.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to function successfully in an environment requiring immediate response to urgent situations.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with local and statewide community resources, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Computer skills with various software, including Microsoft Products, and proficiency in using technology, including telephones, computers, laptops, software, and email.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in supervision and leadership roles.
- Familiarity with crisis intervention models and best practices.
- Experience working with diverse populations and providing culturally sensitive support.

Training and Development
As a supervisor, you will receive approximately 48 hours of training related to active listening skills, suicide prevention practices, and utilization of agency resources. The first 6 weeks of training are mandatory, including 1 week of virtual training and 5 weeks of on-site training in Columbia, Maryland.

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
blithequark offers a comprehensive compensation package, including:
- Competitive salary range: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.

Available Shift Schedules
- 6 PM to 2 AM, Monday - Friday (1) Tuesday to Saturday (1) and Thursday to Monday (1).
