Job Highlights and Responsibilities
As an AWS and Azure Cloud Operations Center Support Engineer, you will be responsible for providing maintenance and support activities, including monitoring, troubleshooting, compliance, and optimization of our cloud environments. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Serving as the primary contact for all agency cloud operations-related queries and issues, providing expert guidance and support to ensure prompt resolution.
- Providing after-hours support to ensure the seamless operation of agency cloud services, including monitoring application workloads and proactively detecting problems.
- Creating, modifying, and deleting cloud alerts to monitor system performance, and implementing automated remediation for recurring incidents.
- Managing Major Incident Management (MIM) for agency priority 1 incidents, including coordination, documentation, root cause analysis (RCA), and notifications.
- Updating agency hosting and design documents as needed, and managing activity documentation and approval chains for both agency-specific and enterprise activities.
- Resolving agency cloud security alerts, ensuring compliance with security requirements, and monitoring certificate expiration and renewals.
- Implementing agency security controls according to organizational standards, and performing agency patch management on cluster environments, including Azure Kubernetes Service clusters (AKS) and Kubernetes versions.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following requirements:
- Must pass an extensive background check.
- Experience as a System Engineer and/or Cloud Engineer with hands-on experience dealing with implementation, security, and standards/best practices in a cloud environment, including Azure and AWS.
- Strong working knowledge of Azure and/or AWS, with the ability to work closely with multiple diverse delivery centers and their agencies.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to clearly communicate with clients and stakeholders.
- Consistently demonstrate strong organizational, communication, change management, and problem-solving skills.
SKILL MATRIX and Preferred Qualifications
In addition to the requirements listed above, the following skills and qualifications are preferred:
- System Engineer and/or Cloud Engineer with hands-on experience dealing with implementation, security, and standards/best practices in Azure and AWS.
- In-depth knowledge of networking, as well as connectivity to AWS and/or Azure (via Direct Connect and/or ExpressRoute).
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud services.
- Strong knowledge of all cloud technologies, with the ability to keep abreast of and have a deep technical understanding of current and emerging technologies.
- Proven operational experience with large Enterprise environments.
- Administrator certifications in Azure and/or AWS are a strong plus.
