Business Intelligence Consultant Role Summary The Business Intelligence Consultant – Strategy, Enablement & Governance is responsible for ensuring that business intelligence is defined correctly, adopted consistently, governed effectively, and used to run the business. This role owns the “why” and the “so what” of BI translating business objectives into clear KPI frameworks, operating cadences, and governance models that enable leaders to make decisions and drive execution. This role partners closely with BI Engineering & Data Foundations to ensure insights are trusted, actionable, and embedded into daily operations. It is a strategic translator, orchestrator, and enabler of a repeatable management system. Key Responsibilities BI Strategy & Insight Definition • Translate business objectives into clear, actionable KPI frameworks aligned to leadership priorities • Define success measures, decision thresholds, and escalation paths • Ensure metrics answer meaningful business questions, not just reporting requests Enablement & Adoption • Drive adoption of BI tools, dashboards, and insights across leadership and operational teams • Design and facilitate operating cadences (performance reviews, business reviews, huddles) that embed data into how the business runs • Build and maintain enablement hubs (e.g., SharePoint) with playbooks, definitions, and training resources Governance & Standards • Own BI governance, including: • Metric definitions and alignment • Usage standards • Change control and decision rights • Partner with BI Engineering to validate requirements, confirm delivery meets intent, and enforce governance • Prevent metric drift, rework, and “whose number is right” debates Stakeholder Partnership • Serve as the primary BI partner to leadership and key stakeholders • Lead structured requirements gathering and prioritization • Navigate ambiguity while maintaining alignment to strategy and standards Continuous Improvement • Evaluate effectiveness of BI usage and decision-making • Identify gaps in adoption, understanding, or execution • Continuously refine frameworks, cadences, and governance models How This Role Works With BI Engineering This role operates in a co‑ownership handshake model: • Strategy, Enablement & Governance owns: • Business problem definition • KPI intent and usage • Adoption, governance, and operating rhythms • Engineering & Data Foundations owns: • Technical design and implementation • Data models, pipelines, and performance Collaboration Occurs At • Requirements translation • Delivery validation • Governance enforcement Skills & Experience • Experience in BI, performance management, analytics enablement, or related fields • Strong systems thinking and ability to translate strategy into measurable outcomes • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills • Comfort operating in ambiguity and influencing without direct authority • Familiarity with BI platforms (e.g., Power BI) sufficient to partner effectively with technical teams Success Looks Like • Leaders trust and use BI to make decisions • Dashboards are actively adopted, not ignored • Metrics are consistent across teams • BI supports a repeatable management system, not heroics CBRE Employee Benefits • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision • Disability benefit program • 401k company matching • Paid time off and holidays • Company paid life insurance • Pet insurance • Paid parental leave Why CBRE? CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for this position is $120,000 annually and the maximum salary for this position is $135,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
