Job Title: VDC | BIM CoordinatorAbout the Role We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled VDC (BIM) Coordinator to play a pivotal role in transforming design-intent documents and 3D models—spanning Plumbing, Mechanical, and HVAC systems—into fully detailed fabrication‑ready Building Information Models (BIM). This position offers exceptional remote flexibility, with up to 95% work-from-home capability, while still providing meaningful local project engagement in the Raleigh, NC area. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Collaboration • Lead and mentor a team of VDC Specialists, guiding productivity, time management, and quality standards. • Collaborate closely with project engineers, managers, and field teams to ensure accurate, timely deliverables. • Train team members on BIM software and best practices to support continued growth and accuracy. Project Coordination & Communication • Manage construction documents and ensure the BIM team has immediate access to current submittals, specifications, and vendor models. • Attend weekly coordination meetings virtually or onsite as needed to ensure seamless multi‑trade coordination. • Communicate fabrication and installation intent clearly to field personnel and project stakeholders. Modeling, Detailing & Technical Execution • Produce high‑detail LOD400 BIM models for mechanical and plumbing systems. • Generate RFIs when design clarifications are required. • Create detailed shop, hanger, and sleeve drawings for fabrication. • Export hanger and sleeve coordinates for robotic total station layout. • Support spatial coordination with general contractors and subcontractors across all trades. Continuous Improvement • Maintain ongoing training and education to enhance modeling accuracy and team productivity. • Provide insight to management on future hardware/software needs to support team efficiency. • *Essential Skills** • Proven leadership ability to guide a project‑level VDC team. • Strong comprehension of project schedules, construction documents, and technical literature. • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and technical writing. • Analytical problem‑solving strengths with the ability to generate creative, practical solutions. • Strong interpersonal skills and self‑direction in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment. • *Additional Qualifications** • 5+ years of experience installing mechanical or plumbing systems. • Proficiency in: • Autodesk Revit • AutoCAD • Autodesk Fabrication CADmep • Autodesk Navisworks • Experience in BIM coordination and detailing preferred. • Professional demeanor, ethical judgment, and strong technical rigor. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
