Position Overview
A large national healthcare organization is seeking skilled Medical Directors to support clinical decision-making in a structured, remote environment. In this role, you will evaluate clinical information, determine medical necessity, and collaborate closely with external providers to ensure timely and accurate case determinations.

Key Responsibilities
• Perform timely, compliant medical necessity reviews for inpatient services
• Ensure determinations follow CMS regulations, national guidelines, and internal standards
• Communicate clinical decisions clearly—both verbally and in written format
• Meet established productivity, quality, and compliance goals
• Work collaboratively with internal teams and external providers
• Adapt to evolving utilization management processes, tools, and workflows
• Participate in required educational or training activities
Required Qualifications
• MD or DO degree
• Minimum of 5 years of post-residency/fellowship direct patient care (inpatient or Medicare-type population preferred)
• Active Board Certification in an ABMS-recognized specialty
• Unrestricted medical license in at least one U.S. state (willing to obtain additional licenses as needed)
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proven analytical and clinical interpretation abilities
• Experience working in a collaborative team environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Background in managed care (Medicare Advantage, Managed Medicaid, Commercial)
• Prior experience in Utilization Management
• Familiarity with MCG® or InterQual guidelines
• Clinical experience in IM, FM, Geriatrics, Hospitalist, Emergency Medicine, or related specialties
